Who Are We?

• We are an international collection (Swiss, Costa Rican, Canadian) of people who found their way to the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica and wanted to help people explore this beautiful country.
• We love nature and want to protect it and keep it pristine.
• We like authentic experiences not fake packaged tours and want to help you experience the real Costa Rica even though you may not have as much time as you'd like!
• We work out of our offices at Hotel Banana Azul, on the black beach just north of Puerto Viejo.
• We support the community we live in including the Cocles Beach Lifeguard Program.

Payment Policies

• Our tour and transport vendors require prepayment in order to hold space and resources for your booking so for individual tour and transport booking, we require full payment in advance of booking your tour.
• Once your tour/transport is confirmed, we will email you a confirmation so you will be fully paid up on the day of your trip.
• If we are unable to accommodate you on your selected tour or transport, we will either do a prompt refund for you or offer you an alternative at your discretion.
• For multi-day packages, we require a minimum 50% deposit before we start confirming hotels, tours, etc. Full payment must be received before the start of your tour.
• We use PayPal for payment processing so you can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or from your bank account via eCheck. Our charges are processed in US dollars in the USA unlike some other companies who quote the fee in dollars but then charge in Costa Rican colones at their exchange rate which is converted back by your bank at a different exchange rate (this can often cost you an additional 5-10%)

Refund and Cancellation Policies

• Should your plans change and you are unable to make your tour/transport or need to make changes, we will work with the supplier to either accommodate you on another tour or refund your money. However, many tour companies have already committed resources to your tour when you book it so refunds are not always guaranteed. The more notice you give us, the more likely we will be able to reaccommodate you.
• Tours will departs daily regardless of weather unless conditions would make it unsafe so please be prepared for the possibility of rain.
• We require at least 24 hours or more notice for cancellations depending on the tour/transport operator's refund policies.
• For individual tour/transport cancellations done with less than 7 days notice, Gecko Trail Adventures will apply a cancellation fee of 5% (min $15, max $75) plus any fee accessed by the tour/transport operator.
• All cancellations of multi-day package booking will incur a cancellation fee as these require substantial staff and planning time. Gecko Trail Adventures will apply a cancellation fee of 5% (min $15, max $75) plus any fees accessed by the tour/transport operators.
