Puerto Viejo Satellite

Puerto Viejo Satellite is the most comprehensive and most popular website covering Costa Rica's South Caribbean region stretching from Cahuita to the Panama Border. This district is also known as Talamanca which is why we call our local news source The Talamanca News.

The site was primarily built by our friend Doug Dosdall of Doh Media Internet Solutions. The site's goals are to provide a much upgraded and comprehensive information source for the area. A single place where people can go and find a map, local news, transportation information, weather info, information on how to support the local community and the environment and more.

Desafio

The word "Desafío" means challenge, and it is our friends Suresh and Christine’s "Desafío" to continue to keep their business on the cutting edge of adventure and sustainable tourism. They do so by maintaining the highest level of safety in all of their operations with a minimum impact on the natural environment and try to exceed the client expectations by making sure everyone has "Serious Fun!"

Banana Azul

We not only bonded with Banana Azul because we have our tour desk there but even more because their owner was one of our first supporters and always trusts in our service. Banana Azul is a lovely place, hidden away in the jungle north of Puerto Viejo and located right at the remote Black Sand beach. It is a great pleasure working in this spot as well as with them.

Travel Costa Rica Now

"Just two guys traveling around Costa Rica, and sharing their experience." That's how our friends D'Angelo and Michael Alan from Travel Costa Rica Now describe themselves. We think they offer much more than that - their website provides tons of useful information, videos and travel tips and the guys know what they talk about. And if you want to get an insight into their life in Costa Rica, also check out their blog Doin' Costa Rica.

Jaguar Rescue Center

Encar and Sandro from the Jaguar Rescue Center dedicate their lives for the animals! We are proud to say that we have been one of their great supporters from the very beginning and that we are happy to see the progress the center has made over the last years. They not only put lots of effort into the rehabilitation of mistreated, injured and/or confiscated animals but also as an education center for the local community. In joint effort between Gecko Trail Adventures and the Jaguar Rescue Center, school kids are sent to their place to learn more about their own fauna.

Cocles Beach Lifeguard Program

Costa Rican beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world and many are also known for great surfing. This means that they're not only exciting, they can be dangerous, especially to people who are not experienced with these kinds of conditions.

Cocles beach is not only well known for exciting surfing (and strong rip tides) but also well documented in numerous travel guides/websites. Consequently it is visited by a large volume of people, locals and visitors alike. Several tragic deaths around Easter 2001 on Cocles beach galvanized a few individuals into action to help prevent further loss of life and the Cocles Lifeguard Program was born. The current program involves a team of 3 lifeguards working shifts so that there are 2 lifeguards present from 09.00hrs to 17.00hrs each day, 7 days a week. With no government support, the programm relies primarily on monthly donations from local businesses as well as occasional donations from visitors and residents. Gecko Trail Adventures is proud to be a regular supporter.
